Refrigeration Machine Operator License Preparation

Course Description

In New York City every school, hospital, commercial, industrial or residential facility that uses large refrigeration equipment requires a licensed watch engineer be on duty during all hours of operation. In order to become a licensed engineer you have to pass a two part test given by the New York Fire department. To qualify for the New York City Operating Engineer Exam you have to complete a 200 hour course which instructs you in the operation of large scale refrigeration equipment. Our course provides a comprehensive overview in Industrial and Commercial Refrigeration, specifically tailored to enable a student to qualify for and pass the New York City Refrigeration Machine Operator's Exam. Turner School is approved by the New York City Bureau of Fire Prevention.

A student's classroom experience starts with Turner's proprietary textbook, which is specifically tailored to give the student a strong background in Industrial and Commercial Refrigeration, as well as the information necessary to pass the New York City Refrigeration Machine Operators Exam. Students are also furnished with practice tests each session which represent questions from Turner's own test bank, developed over 64 years of New York City Exams. The learning process is supplemented with specific handouts which aid lectures given, and access to our website which provides notes, video of classes, and review tests. Finally, the process is rounded out with field trips to actual working refrigeration plants in buildings throughout New York City. These are taken to give the student the practical knowledge necessary to be successful in the New York City Refrigeration Exam and their chosen career path.In addition to that, students who are studying for the Practical portion of the examination have access to our Practical Simulation program through our website. This program allows the student to get acclimated to the program, while putting the information learned in the written portion of the class to practical use.

"I had such a great and thorough learning experience at Turner. They are the only reason that I passed the Refrigeration Exam; they really do have what everyone else is missing. I tried to take it several times before, and failed miserably. But once I went through the first few months at Turner I knew that the next time I took the exam would be different. I passed my first try after Turner!"

- Bill M. Stroudsburg, PA

"The teachers really know what they are talking about. My teacher always comes in right from work, in the same field that he teaches about! He is available when I have questions outside out school, and when I want to work from home, I know that I can always use the website to watch videos, do practice tests, or review my notes!"

- Bryan B. New York, NY

"I had to stop taking classes while at Turner due to a family emergency, and couldn't be happier with how they handled it. They really worked with me to make sure that I could finish as soon as possible after I returned, and I loved the ability to be able to work and study from home with the website!"

- Arthur W. Bronx, NY
